Post When to seed
A friend sent this to me. The basic advice is OK (although very general and only good for one part of the country). But the comments are priceless...

MUHAHAHHAHAHAHA!!!

Zippy loves a jackass as much as I do!

"You may plant grass at any time of winter. Seed will germinate and take hold best if covered with a 1 to 2 inch layer of snow. You must use very, very expensive seed for snow seeding though. The ground must be frozen down to a depth of 6 inches for the best results. Also, the seed must be spread by handfuls while barefoot and wearing a turquoise leotard. GOOD LUCK! REMEMBER, You must use 35 pounds per 100 sq. ft. top of the line seed"

What's kind of scary is that half this advice isn't bad.

Zippy must be Gary look at this one.

As long as you lay flat to the yard while spreading seed it will stay put. Another trick is to spread seed and immediately cover the seeded area with waterproof tarps. It is essential to keep the rain and water off the newly planted seed so as to not wash it away.
